STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT

Judiciary / Academia / Media Engagements

Student Associations

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) continues to foster strategic partnerships as part of its stakeholder engagement efforts. In the academic space, the Commission has actively collaborated with various student associations to promote financial literacy, market awareness, and regulatory knowledge.

Notable collaborations amongst many others include:

  • University of Zambia Business and Economics Association (UNZABECA)
  • Mulungushi University Economics Association (MUEA)
  • University of Zambia Mathematics and Statistics Association (UNZAMASTA)
  • Zambian Colleges and Schools Economics and Business Association (ZCASEBA)
  • Copperbelt University Economics Association (CUEA)

These engagements have provided platforms for interactive discussions on capital markets, investment opportunities, and the role of regulation in protecting investors and maintaining market integrity.

The SEC values these partnerships as a way of nurturing future market participants and ensuring a well-informed citizenry.

Media Training / Media Engagement

Recognizing the critical role of the media in shaping public perception and disseminating accurate information, the SEC, together with LuSE, has also conducted specialized media training sessions. These sessions are designed to equip journalists with the necessary skills and knowledge for accurate and responsible reporting on capital markets.

These sessions focus on:

  • Simplifying complex financial concepts
  • Promoting accurate and ethical reporting
  • Strengthening media understanding of capital market operations and regulations

By building journalists’ knowledge about the Capital Markets, the SEC aims to improve the quality of public information, foster transparency, and boost investor confidence in Zambia’s financial markets.
