Stakeholder Engagement & Capacity Building Initiatives

Strengthening Zambia’s Capital Market through Dialogue, Compliance & Sustainable Innovation

At the Securities and Exchange Commission Zambia (SEC), we are committed to fostering a robust, transparent, and inclusive capital market. Through our recent stakeholder engagements including the AML/CFT Compliance Workshop (2024) and the Annual Capital Markets Operators (CMO) Workshop (2025). We continue to prioritize education, regulatory alignment, and market development.

In 2024, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) convened Capital Market Operators (CMOs) to address critical risks related to Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT). The workshop emphasized the importance of regulatory compliance, timely reporting of suspicious transactions, and ethical conduct among market participants. This was done in collaboration with the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) and law enforcement agencies, the SEC reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding market integrity.

In 2025, our Annual CMO Workshop themed “Building Resilience Through Sustainable Growth” spotlighted Zambia’s progress, challenges, and bold steps toward capital market reform. With over 100 industry stakeholders in attendance, the event reviewed performance metrics, regulatory milestones like Shareholder Vetting Guidelines, and ongoing efforts under the Capital Markets Master Plan (CMMP). Dialogue on sustainable finance, climate risks, and the integration of informal financial systems emphasized our inclusive approach to development.

Our commitment remains steadfast: empowering market operators, enhancing investor protection, and championing Zambia’s role in regional and global capital markets.
